Description

This bright apartment is on the second floor of a historical building from the 19th century in the center of Amalfi. The famous square with the Dome of Amalfi is only a few minutes to walk. The apartment is lovingly furnished in the typical south Italian style. The little balcony of the living room although isn´t suitable for meals outside. The nice tiled floor in every room affords a pleasant atmosphere. Restaurants and various beaches are directly in the town and the shopping can be done to foot. In the summer boats from the harbour go to beautiful, lonely beaches.

Region information

The famous Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Selected as one of the 10 "Paradise Found" by National Geographic Traveler, no curious traveler should miss. Protected as a UNESCO world heritage site it has kept its natural charm and beauty with breathtaking landscape, ancient towns untouched by modern architecture, natural diversity, excellent restaurants, very friendly people and the always present deep blue Mediterranean sea.

The region Campania

This region is the most popular holiday destination in the south of Italy. Vesuvius in the Gulf of Naples, enchanting scenery and the famous blue grottos in Ischia and Capri, monuments from the Greek-Roman era, and architectural works of art, attract thousands of visitors every year to this region. The volcanic island of Ischia is situated at the entrance of the Gulf of Naples. It is famous for the beauty of its natural sites, for its rich vegetation as well as its hot and radioactive sources.

Italy lies between the Alps, the Ionian Sea and Tyrrhenian Sea. This peninsula is -favourable for tailor-made holidays. It is a dreamland for lovers of art and -history, and also for sun seekers who will find bathing resorts -offering long sandy beaches with good infrastructure and modern facilities. The mountainous regions encourage nature lovers, walkers and mountaineers to plan and enjoy their own holidays.

Eating and Drinking
Each region takes pride in its own specialities. It is recommended to travel into the hinterland, away from tourist resorts in -order to taste all the different foods. In restaurants, you have to generally order a full course menu. For snacks, a trattoria, or -pizzeria can fulfil your appetite. Lunch is served between 12 noon and 2 pm, dinner from 7:30 pm. Service is included in the bill, but it is common practice to leave a supplementary tip. When leaving the -restaurant, you should keep the bill and receipt for up to 500 m from the restaurant, or else in case of a police control for fraud, you are liable to a fine of up to EUR 1,000.

Travelling by Car
The motorways are toll roads. On entering the country, at the border, you can purchase a pre-payment card that can be used at all the tollbooths. This will save you from constantly looking for small change. The speed limit is 130 km/h on motorways, 110 km/h on the "superstrada" (fast lanes), and 90 km/h on departmental roads. Seat belts are obligatory. Any violation of the law will entail a heavy fine.
